O God, there are many comforting aspects of the Christian faith---how You are like a father to us, how You have come to live among us, how we are a part of Your family.
But deep in our hearts we confess that we know what will happen if we take all those comforting thoughts and just put them in a desk drawer. Some day when we open that drawer in order to grab a little comfort, we will find that they have all disappeared.
Impress upon us the undeniable fact that unless we align ourselves with others in this hurting world, unless we bleed with them, unless we risk ourselves, the comforting stuff in the drawer will vanish.
